Since 2014, this group has been involved in maintaining the closure of the Escobal Silver Mine, owned by Vancouver-based, Pan American Silver. We’ve been involved in bringing this group’s coffee to market in Canada since 2018, with the help and support of Bows Coffee Roasters and Semilla Coffee.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIreneo Ramirez and his brothers-in-law all produce coffee in the region of El Durazno, about 30 minutes from Mataquescuintla town center. This coffee, harvested in late February-March of 2026, is mostly of the Pache variety. Pache Colis is a regional variant that has adapted to the (ever changing) climate. After depulping, Ireneo places his coffee into sealed bags to allow the coffee to ferment anaerobically. This gives the coffee a juicy texture, while also being efficient and space-saving.
